Several people lost their lives in the disastrous typhoon which struck Manila in the Philippines and caused damage to the extent of a million pounds - seven steamers icluding the British ship Glenogle were driven ashore or sunk as well as a number of smaller vssels - the streets of Manila itself were flooded with water feet deep and buildings were wrecked and giant trees blown down - the British Glen Line steamer Glenogle (9,513 tons) and th American ship Gertrude Kellogg (5,063 tons) were driven aground in Manila Bay - photo shows the steamer Mactan listing at her pier in the Rasig River though all her lines were out - so much silt came down the river during the typhoon that she became fast November 2nd 1934
