In order that when the time comes for them to leave their present jobs they will have a skilled trade to fall back on and will not become a charge on the rest of the community special training classes for messenger boys have been organised at the LCC's Kingsway Institute - the boys are employed by cable companies but have to leave their jobs when they attain the age of 18 and their places are taken by school-leavers - their employers have therefore come to an arrangement with the LCC and the boys are allowed time off to attend the classes for six hours a week - photo shows messenger boys in the typewriter class at the Kingsway Institute January 30th 1935
