Miss Madeline Glasier ( whose engagement to Mr James Maxton - MP for the Bridgeton division of Glasgow without a break since 1922 - has just been announced) has a long conversation over the telephone with her fiance who is at present in Glasgow - Mr James Maxton is the leader of the Independent Labour Party and Miss Glasier has acted voluntarily as his secretary for eleven years - Miss Glasier BSc ( Economics ) of London University is an active member of the Independent Labour Party and she gives her services as Mr Maxton's secretary as part of her contribution to the cause of Socialism - photo shows a recent picture of Mr Maxton (third from left) and Miss Madeline Glasier (second from left) walking together in Cologne January 21st 1935
