Eighteen year old Alfred Hinch of Beaumont Square in London has constructed the world's smallest wireless set - the set stands on a threepenny piece and could be suspended from a watch chain - the receiver is a crystal set contained in a cube less than half an inch square - it really does work and programmes can be received clearly and distinctly - Alfred is an electrical engineer, and he made every bit of the tiny apparatus himself on his home made lathe from the miniature coins to the little terminals each about the size of a pin head - the crystal is just barely discernible - a magnifying glass is needed to see the cat's whisker - photo shows Alfred Hinch listening to a wireless programme with his tiny wireless set October 14th 1934
