Mr Ernest Gillan of Kentish Town in London ( gasfitter ) is exhibiting a water colour landscape at the Royal Academy Exhibition - the landscape represents a river scene in Essex in midsummer - it was painted for the most part in the front parlour and the kitchen of Mr Gillan's home - he has no proper studio and works in the evening or during the weekend - Mr Gillan had a landscape exhibited at the Academy four years ago - photo shows Mr Ernest Gillan on his rounds as a gasfitter May 5th 1934
