Sir Philip Sassoon ( Under Secretary of State for Air ) accompanied by Colonel Shelmerdine ( director of civil aviation ) and representatives of foreign governments officially unaugurated a wireless station that works on the shortest wave length ever used commercially at Lympne Aerodrome in Kent - the station will operate on a wavelength of eight inches and will be used as a high efficiency radio link across the Channel to help Continental air services - another station has been built at St Inglevert in France to connect up with Lympne January 26th 1934
