Miss Esther Cohen of Islington was awarded ?00 breach of promise damages against Mr Nathan Cole ( a wholesale poulterer of Spitalfields and described as a rich widower ) in the King's Bench Division - Mr Cole is 54 and Miss Cohen 28 - Miss Cohen alleged that they became engaged in April 1933 but that in September he told her father that he refused to marry her - Mr Cole pleaded that it was a term of the engagement that after marriage she would manage his poultry stall and that his two sons and two daughters should live with them - In September he alleged that Miss Cohen told him that she would not manage the stall and that the daughters would have to be sent away - photo shows Miss Esther Cohen after the case March 19th 1934
