In Ranger 6 Headquaters Pasadena California In the Command Centre of Caltech ' s Jet Propulsion Laboratory a scene of numb despair after the failure of Ranger 6 to deliver television pictures of the surface of the moon durin its spectacular bulls eye hit on its Lunar mission early February 2nd The United States spacecraft hit the moon with spectacular accuracy but the six television cameras did not respond to a switch on signal from earth The signal to start the cameras was transmitted from the Pasadena headquarters 3rd February 1964
