The 35 ft long rocket falls free on release then, after a few seconds delay for safety the rocket motor fires and the missile accelerates and begins to climb, the flight is programmed and one launched the missile acts under its own orders. requiring no signals from outside it cannot be jammed or diverted by counter measures during flight 14 February 1963
