Athens, Greece : the ferry boat "Heraklion" (8900-ton) owned by the Typaldos line of Old Bond Street, London - which operates a regular service between Chanea, Crete and the Greek mainland - is shown moored at Piraeus harbour, prior to her departure for the last voyage. "Heraklion" left Crete as usual last night and was due at Piraeus, the Port of Athens this morning, but the British built passenger and car ferry, sank in violent storms early today . All 262 people aboard were feared drowned . 8 December 1966
