Off Wonsan, North Korea: one of three 16 inch guns on the U.S. Battleship Missouri sends a shell speeding towards a Communist supply centre located in this harbour city. The mighty Mo,' which recently concluded her second tour of duty with U.N. forces in Korea, blasted enemy gun emplacements, tunnels railroads and storage building during a daring daylight strike on the harbour. The photograph is unusual in that a battleship seldom fires heavy armament at a target so few degrees off either bow. 17 April 1953
