The new three year old boy King of Nepal, Maharajadiraja Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah, salutes the crowds after his enthronement at Katmandu after his grandfather, King Tribuvana had been deposed by the Nepal Council on November 7th. The boy king and his grandfather were given refuge in the Indian Embassy as guests of the Indian Government. On the right is the Prime Minister of Nepal, His Highness Maharja Mohan Sham Sher Jang Bahadur Rana. In the rear stands an attendant carrying the royal umbrella which follows the king wherever he goes. 30th November 1950
