This picture well illustrates the "secrecy" fo the voting - in the Parliamentary elections carried out throught Czechoslovakia and shows the Lord Mayor of Prague Dr V Vacek casting his vote under the eyes of onlookers in a Prague polling booth. It is reported that one in seven of the Czech electors returned blank papers rather than vote for the single list of candidates supporting the Communist Gottwald government 1st June 1948
