The last picture of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi leaving the shrine of the Mohammedan Saint, Kutb-uddin-Bakhtiar Kaki, on the outskirts of Delhi, 27th January 1948, only three days before his assassination. The shrine, one of the most sacred to moslems, was desecrated by Hindu and Sikh rioters during communal disturbances in the city, a fact which Gandhi lamented in a speech to Mohammedans, sikhs and hindus who assembled there for his visit.
