A Pilot Model of the Automatic Computing Engine (ACE), the "Electronic Brain" is now working at the National Physical Laboratory at Teddington, where it was designed and constructed. ACE, as it is called, can resolve any arithmetic problem, and is invaluable in science, industry and administration, where lengthy problems occur which might take a man days to solve. ACE can find the answer in minutes. Photo shows: Miss Vera Willmott, Scientific Assistant at the laboratory, seated at the machine showing its valves of which there are 800. 29th November 1950 computer designed by Alan Turing
