Mr Eisaku Sato, fomerr Japanese Finance Minister, beams broadly as he was elected the party candidate for premier at a "Caucus of the Parlimentary members of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in Tokyo November 9th. He was later elected as the New Prime Minister of Japan at an extraordinary session of the Diet. He succeeds former Premier Hayato Ikeda who has resigned on account of Ill Health. 13 November 1964
