The French Consular Triumvirate Settling The Constitution Of 1799. By the "Revolution of the 18th and 19th Brumaire" (November 10 and 11, 1799) Napoleon had made himself master of France while professing adherence to the Republic. The caricature illustrates his method of arranging a new Constitution. While his co-consuls, Cambaceres and Lebrun, bite their pens, and the Abbe Sieyes rummages against his own old schemes Napoleon formulates a plan which constitutes him "All-in-all Bonoparte" Below are seen smiths forging new chains for France; above, on a riband runs the legend "Long live the Consitution one and invisible" (two letters of the word "indivisible" being folded out of sight). Immediately after the "Revolution" referred to, by the following prophetic poster appeared on the walls of Paris:-
