A totally unexpected development surprised journalists in Algiers earlier this week. While men of two Willayas (military zones) where facing each other, hostilely, south of the capital, they were summoned to a press conference called by Mohammed Khidder, right hand man of Ahmed Ben Bella, leader of the Political Bureau, which ceased functioning some days ago and who had Abandones Algiers for his strong-hold, Oran. Ben Bella was present at the conference - his return completely unknown. Later he declared that the people of Algiers had gained a victory - that peace had come to the military forces opposed to the Political Bureau would withdraw from the Capital.
