Havana, Cuba: A soldier guards the wreckage of a Cuban airliner which crashed August 10th about 30 miles from Havana when an anti-Castro gang tried to do a "sky-jack" in reverse. The plane, on a flight from Havana to the Isle of Pines, off Cuba's south coast, was seized by four men passengers and a woman. Pilot Luis Regalado was killed by a stray bullet - and the plane clumsily crash-landed as co-pilot Alberto Bayo managed to grab the controls. The gun battle went on outside the plane, and three people were killed and six wounded before police took control of the situation. Aug 11th, 1961.
