The hearing of the murder charge against Eastbourne doctor Dr John Bodkin Adams 57 , who is accused of killing a woman patient , Mrs Edith Alice Morrell , on a day in November , 1950. The prosecution told the court that Mrs Morrell died from "massive quantities" of drugs administered by Dr Adams , so great thay any doctor must have known they would cause death. It was said that under Mrs Morrell's will Dr Adams received valuable Georgian silver , and after her death a Rolls - Royce car. 14th January 1957
