View on Hyde and Egbert's Farm, Oil Creek - there are several accounts of how the lucrative oil-rich Alexander Davidson property ended up as the Hyde and Egbert Farm - two Egbert brothers put a down payment on the farm in 1860. Alexander initially accepted the contract then rejected it and a new contract was drawn up. Alexander died soon after this and his wife contested the sale but eventually signed the deed in 1862, receiving a one twelfth royalty for the oil on the 38 acre farm which consisted of a mud flat, a smaller portion of rising ground and the remainder set edgewise. 固opFoto
