Southampton, England: Leaving Southampton water from the Ocean Dock at 7 p.m. the majestic liner Queen Elizabeth II, watched by a small crowd of onlookers, the ?0, million ship is undergoing trails in the channel The ship has not moved from Southampton's Ocean terminal since she limped into port on January 2nd with severe damage to both engine rotors. Yesterday, the liner's engines were tested with the ship securely lashed to the Ocean terminal Dock. All went well and Upper Clyde shipbuilders, who built the liner decided today to advance the sailing time from 7.30 tomorrow morning to this evening. Aboard the Queen Elizabeth II tonight is a skeleton crew, plus engineers from John Brown Engineering - the Clydeside firm which built the trouble-hit rotors. Queen Elizabeth II returns to Southampton in three days, when the turbines will be opened up and the rotors checked for any signs of further damage Cunard will then be asked formally to accept the liner, which is scheduled to make its maiden voyage to New York on May 2nd. 24 March 1969
