Foreign Royalty - Denmark. Danish Queen Margrethe giving Skies to Norway. Oslo, Feb 24th 1990. (NTB) Queen Margrethe of Denmark arrived in Oslo, Saturday morning, for her annual skiing holiday in the Norwegian mountains. Accompanied by her uncle, HM King Olav of Norway, she made a short stop at the Ski Museum next the Holmenkollen Ski Jumping Hill in Oslo to donate a pair of skies and skiboots to the ,useum. The skies, a pair of ordinary Norwegian military issued skies, has been used by the Dane from the Sirius patrol who used the skies on a 4000 km long trek along the Greenland coastline, only accompanied by a pack of dogs. As a token of her kindness, the Queen received from the museum an old box of ski wax and membership in "Skiforeningen", a Norwegian society for promotion of the art of skiing. Queen Margrethe, herself an experienced skier, will, together with Norwegian Crown Princess Sonja, do the Nowegian mountain range on skies the following week.
