Victor Henri Rochefort, Marquis de Rochefort-LuCay (January 30, 1830 - June 30, 1913) French politician. After experience as a medical student, a clerk at the H矌el de Ville, a playwright and a journalist, he joined the staff of the Figaro in 1863; but a series of his articles, afterwards published as Les Fran蓷is de la Decadence (3 vols., 1866-68), brought the paper into collision with the authorities and got him sacked. Member of the Government of National Defence. He founded L'lntransigeant in the Radical and Socialist interest. Editor of La Patrie. Known today as the Prince of the Gutter Press. ?007 TopFoto
