Children raid road blocks at Chiswick The tram lines are being pulled up in Chiswick High Road, and large numbers of children are arriving with barrens and old prams to collect the wood blocks for firewood. Not content with waiting for workmen to pull the blocks, some of the children start to break up the road themselves but the job proved so uncomfortable in the heat-wave that they were glad when the policemen put a temporary stop to the operation.
