Donkeys - Largest breeding stud of donkeys in Britain is the Ruff's Orchard Donkey Stud at Hawthorne Hill, Miadenhead, Berks, run by the Hon. Robin Borwick, who specialises in breeding them for pets - a trend rapidly gaining in popularity - and not for the seaside trade or Donkey Derbies where he feels that the object is to bring ridicule to the animals. At the stud, Mr. Borwick has between 45 and 60 donkeys, including some very rare skewbald ones, known as broken-coloured donkeys, which, owing to their rarity are valued at up to ?00.
