Hong Kong: This artist's impression shows the runway at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Airport to be opened this August. In the back-ground is one of two present runways surrounded on three sides by mountains; These will be closed in summer. The new runway will handle the world's biggest and fasted planes 24 hours a day; the present service is a dawn o-dusk one. The new runway will be 8,340 - ft long, and 200ft wide, and will cost $18,000,000 - The biggest civil engineering project in the Colony's history; The old runways are 4,756 - ft and 5,418 ft long respectively March 12th 1958
