Chihuahuas - A proud mother sruveys the six puppies she thought she would never see. And the puppies bubble over in champagne glasses - only six weeks after a life-saving operation. Vets had given the mother, a Chihuahua called Rococo Wedgewood, little chance of survival when it was discovered she was to have pups. For she weighed only three pounds, but survive she did - and gave birth to a litter of six one-ounce pups, a number almost unheard of by Chihuahua breeders. The pups were born in a caesarian operation, and had to battle for life fed by their owner, Mrs. Kathleen Leadbetter of Southport, Lancs., from an eye-dropper. As the pups, who now weigh four ounces, played about among the champagne glasses, two-year-old Rococo kept a careful eye on them, just like mother. The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world and is named for the Chihuahua State in Mexico. 固opFoto/AP
