Wet welcome for immigrant West Indians. Wearing a towel to keep his shoulders dry from the rain, and holding tight his wide-brimmed hat, a bewildered youngster steps ashore from a tender at Southampton docks for a first look at the land which will be his home. He was one of 217 Jamaicans who arrived from the West Indies in the Spanish liner Montserrat. When questioned most of the Jamaicans said they were planning to stay with relatives while looking for work. 30th November 1961
