President elect Richard Nixon photographed when he catapulted into National prominence in 1948 when, as a virtual newcomer to Congress, he was instrumental in pinning the perjury tag on Alger Hiss with the discovery of Whittaker Chambers' now famous Pumpkin Papers on the latter's Maryland Farm. Here Nixon (right), goes over the microfilms with Robert Stripling, Chief Investigator for the House of Un-American Activities Committee. 3rd January 1969
