Piloted by Donald Campbell, the jet powered speedboat Bluebird 11 streaks along the surface of Lake Mead, Las Vegas, at 239.5 mph. Campbell's average for two runs was 216.2 mph, giving him a new world record. His previous record was 202.32 mph. The water birds in the foreground appear to be quite unmoved. 18th November 1955
