In this space age there is one man who has been solving the problem of returning to earth without burning up for the past thirty years - he is fifty three years old Stan Lindbergh and he is famed for his high dive, on fire, from a tower sixty feet high into a tank containing only six feet of water which is also ablaze. It was thirty years ago during the depression in his home town of Liverpool that Stan first perfected this spectacular act and th eonly secret is perfect timing. For from the moment he sets light to his petrol soaked clothing at the top of the tower there is only a very short period of time before he would be seriously burnt and the only way out is down into the tank which has also been fired with a bucket of petrol by his assistant. Stan has performed at fair grounds and circuses all over the British Isles and Europe and two years ago he carried out a tour of New Zealand. During this time he has never suffered any injury apart from knocking himself out once or twice in his early days. The picture shows Stan near the end of his dive as the flames from the tank leap up to reach him. A split second later he has entered the tank and his splash has extinguished the blaze.
