Murder Suspect Takes "Lie Detector" Test, 23rd January 1947. Robert Manley, known as "Red", who had been an Associate of the muredered "Black Dahlia", Elizabeth Short, was given a lie detector test at Los Angeles, California, USA. The test proved inconclusive and Manley was booked on suspicion of murder. The body of Miss Short was found in a Los Angeles Lot. The girl had been subjected to sadistic torture while still alive and sawed in halves after her death. Robert Manley photographed as he was given the lie detector test at Los Angeles.
