DR WILLIAM GILBERT GRACE His original signature can be seen on a cricket bat used by himself, now in Wisden's Museum. Born at Downend, Gloucestershire in 1848 and educated for the Medical Profession. He was connected with first class cricket for forty years. His highest score in first class cricket was 344. In 1868 he scored 100 twice in one match and repeated the achievement on three occasions. His highest annual aggregate of runs was 2,739 in 1871. In 1875 he took 192 wickets in a season. He was presented with a testimonial of ?,400 in 1879 and received further financial recognition in 1895 upon completion of a hundred centuries. Later was appointed Secretary and General Manager of the London County Cricket Club. He died October 22nd 1915.
