THE LOST HONOURS OF SCOTLAND "The Honours of Scotland" as the Scottish regalia are called, have a history as romantic as their name. They figured in the coronation of Charles I as King of Scotland at Holyrood on June 18th, 1633. Eighteen years later a courageous Mrs Granger smuggled them from Dunnottar castle through the camp of the besieging English army. After the union with England in 1707, they lay forgotten in an old oak chest in the crown room of Edinburgh castle until 1817, when a successful search brought the chest to light, the regalia being discovered lying at the bottom
