UNEARTHING THE TREASURES OF VERULAMIUM (ST. ALBANS) Since 1931 the prehistoric and Roman cities near St Albans have been systematically excavated under the supervision of Dr R E Mortimer Wheeler, Keeper of the London Museum. Some fifty workmen have been at work on four different sites, a well as students from the Universities of Oxford, London, Wales and elsewhere. Our picture shows two enthusiastic students with a fine specimen of Roman pottery which has rewarded their efforts. Remains of three ancient cities have been found.
