Mr George William Owen, a taxi driver of Hornsey, London, has started a 3000 mile trip; he is taking Mrs Jolly, a New Zealand woman and her two daughters Rose (19) and Violet (17) on a three weeks road tour round England, Wales and Scotland. Two years ago Owen picked up a casual fare, a Mr Runciman, also a New Zealander, who "charted" his taxi for a trip round England. It was because of the report of that trip that appeared in the New Zealand papers that Mrs Jolly, his present fair, got in touch with him. Owen picked up his passengers at their hotel in Bayswater, and started off for the South coast and Lands End. Photo Shows: Mrs Jolly boarding the cab with her daughters, Rose and Violet, as Mr George Owen William looks after the luggage, at the start of the trip from Bayswater.. 19 June 1939
