Tommy Farr sailed for America to meet Jim Braddock. Tommy Farr, the British Empire heavyweight champion, sailed from Southampton on the liner Normandie for America. He is due to meet Jim Braddock, former world champion, at Madison Square Garden, New York. Farr had cancelled his passage on the Normandie to spend Christmas at home, but decided to sail in response to an urgent telephone call from New York.
