India airmen killed on first stage of Atlantic record attempts. Mr Govind P Nair, 32-year-old, who plan to be the first Indian to attempt an Atlantic flight, was killed when he crashed near Rouen on the first stage of his flight. Mr Nair was on the way to Dakar, Africa, from where he planned to fly across the South Atlantic to Brazil. He then planned to fly along the east coast, the American continent to New York, crossed to Newfoundland and start from there for Ireland. Nair had only 200 hours flying experience.
