Helping her up !. 'Lie down' strikers recline on a busy New York pavement. Thirty five pickets found something new in the way of strikes when they staged a 'Lie down' strike in front of the Automat restaurant of the Horn and Hardart train at 34th Street and 7th Avenue, one of the busiest corners in New York. The strikers shows the height of the lunch hour rush for the demonstration, and police had to carry them bodily to patrol wagons in which they were taken to the police station and charged with disorderly conduct. Photo shows, too, policemen tackle a bunch of recumbent strikers, including a woman, on the pavement. 18 November 1937
