Swedes celebrate St Lucia's day. Crown of lighting candles. The Swedish festival of St Lucia's Day was observed in traditional fashion by the Swedish colony in Berlin. On this day, a feminine member of each Swedish family is chosen to be the 'Lucia'. Dressed in white and wearing a crown of lighting candles, she distributes coffee and Lucia Cakes. The festival is actually a prelude to Christmas and symbolised the returning sunlight.
