Gas mask bandit blows up bank a few miles from London, for the films. Choking police and bystanders staggering amid clouds of 'tear'gas and a gas mask bandit dashing through a cordon to make his escape after blowing up a bank vault to steal valuable jewels, all this is in the peaceful countryside of Shepperton, only a few miles from London. The 'tear' gas actually consisted of clouds of harmless but acrid smoke, the 'bank' was a film set, and the policeman were actors appearing in the new Wainwright Production Film 'Kate Plus Ten' based on the Edgar Wallace story. Jack Hulbert plays the part of Detective Inspector Mike Pemberton opposite Genevieve Tobin, the American actress.
