These photographs, received in London tonight (Monday) are the first original pictures received in England of the bombing of the American gunboat 'Panay' which was sunk by Japanese planes near Hohsien, 29 miles from Nanking, and the British gunboat 'Ladybird' shelled by Japanese shore batteries near Nanking. One rating was killed and several others injured in 'Ladybird' and the ship was hit on the waterline. Pumps had to be worked continuously to keep her afloat.
