HMS Hood, the world's largest warship at anchor in the harbour at Valletta, capital of Malta, where ships of the British Navy massed before leaving on the combined exercises of the Home and Mediterranean fleets, transferred to the South Atlantic, owing to the danger in Spanish waters. Sweeping away behind 'Hood' is the town of Valletta, which contains many relics of the occupation of the ancient Knights of Malta.
