From a little inn in the quaint Essex village of Bardfield, old craftsmen and typical local characters are to broadcast to America an impression of English country life as it has been for centuries. In the taproom of the " Spread Eagle" the local wart-healer, "Uppy", two professional thatchers and Professor Harold Laski will speak into the microphone and "mine host", Mr Harry Barnes, will close the program with "Last Orders" and "Time, gentleman, please". Moses Drain, one of the men who would give a talk on house thatching at work in his cottage garden. 10 July 1937
