'Pushbutton' garage beneath the front garden. London man solves car owners problem. The main problem confronting the owners driver, that of garageing his car, conveniently and at least expense has been solved by a London man, Mr R B Bourdillon of Frognal Lane, in the suburb of Hampstead. When he arrives home, Mr Bourdillon drives onto an innocent looking concrete slab in his garden, goes into his house, presses a button and the card descends into its garage, a watertight concrete pit sunk in the earth. The roof of the garage forms part of the front garden. When the car is needed again, a touch of the same button fetches it up to street level. This novel idea, cuts down garage in fees and, in a small house, says a good deal of space. Photo shows, the roof of the garage close down on the car and forming part of the front garden. 4 February 1938
