Barbara puts her new mate in his place. The 'dominant male' in the person of Fritz, the Polar bear at the Whipsnade Zoo (Bedforshire) is rapidly losing his authority in the company of Barbara. Several months ago Barbara lost her mate, Sam, and is now paired with Fritz. She seems determined to be 'master of the house' as these pictures demonstrate. Photo shows, Barbara playing with a piece of cloth which she claimed as her own. Fritz, nose to the ground, wants to play too much and seems determined to make a fight for it. 7 July 1938
