Saving four people from drowning at Westcliffe on Sea, Essex, George Dodds, 24 year old scale proprietor, lost his trousers and his day's takings, amounting to thirty shillings. Two girls, Phyllis Honeyman (12) and Brenda Dolks (aged 10) got into difficulties. Mrs Honeymoon, forty year old widow and mother of Phyllis, with Mr Dolks, a non swimmer, went to their assistance. But Mr Dodds saved them all. Photo shows, Mr george Dodds, the rescuer 'weighs things up' and seems to be wondering if it was worth it. 31 July 1938
