The Southern Railway steamer "Isle of Guernsey" arrived at Southampton eight hours late after her gale network mishap at Guernsey, where she was badly damaged when entering the harbour. Coming up from jersey and bound for Southampton, she entered St Peters Fort harbour at Guernsey in a strong westerly gale struck the pierhead. Damage was done to the bows, the anchor was torn from his holdings, and a whole 5 ft square was torn into the starboard side. She was held up in Guernsey for repairs.
