Soviet airmen fly from Moscow, over North Pole, to America. One of the most dangerous flights in the history of aviation was accomplished by three Russian airmen, Valerie Chkalov, George Baidukov and Alexander Belyakov, who flew non-stop from Moscow across the North Pole to Vancouver, Washington State, USA, where they came down in dense fog on the banks of the Columbia River. The Flyers were 65 hours 25 minutes in the air and covered approximately 5200 miles. They came down only about 700 miles from their scheduled finishing point, San Francisco.
